Can anyone tell me anything about these? Are these worth anything as novelties above and beyond the numismatic value of the coins?

There is a recent thread on these maby some info in there.
Probably some value to collectors of unique packaging.... I do like the coin though, so if it goes up for sale, PM me... Cheers, RickO
I don't recall ever seeing one of those before. When do they date from?
Yes there is a premium to these above the coin value as they aren't commonly up for sale.
Here is a snippet of info from Conder:
"SILVERTOWNE Certificate issued by Leon Hendrickson’s company in Winchester IN. Silvertowne did these in 1986 - 1988 but stopped after John Hunter left the firm"
Interesting that at any time in the past a MS63/64 common date Walker was considered part of a numismatic portfolio.
Didn't we just post on these? I showed you mine and you showed me yours![ ](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

Actually, I guess it was just @astrorat and myself...

The Ellis Island coin was minted starting on October 18, 1985 (https://www.pcgs.com/books/silver-dollars/Chapter24Listings-010.aspx) which gives us internal evidence that these date from the very end of 1985 or later.

I don't have any information on the date of certification. It isn't my coin, I posted it for a friend who was unfamiliar with CU. Thank you everyone for your help!
I also had someone contact me and tell me that Silver Towne had purchased 30 or 40 of these back though the years. Apparently someone saw a lot of upgrade potential and cracked the pieces out.
