Finally apprehended: 1853-O No Arrows Half Dime

It took a long time (years) but finally a nice example that fit my budget came along. This popped up in the live
Silver City Auction on eBay.

PCGS F12 in a brandy new holder.....

    Higher mintage than the Philly version, but apparently much scarcer.

    Far lower survival rates for the New Orleans mints. And who even knows if the mintages for the 2 coins are accurate.

    That coin has a lot of meat on it for a Fine 12. Nice coin.

    This issue is a really tough one to find nice. It's characteristically weakly struck around the date. Good job getting one with good eye appeal in a PCGS holder!

    Do you have an 1846 yet? Those have been scarce lately.

    Yes, I aquired one a few years back in PCGS G04. For me it was the right coin at the right price and I didn't hesitate.
