Here's one of a few different collections of Ike's my Ike addiction has led me into. It's just an old Library of Coins generic dollar album, think this one dates to '69. These old LOC albums are the only type I can get myself to fill. When ever I try newer, cooler, albums I just flounder. Anyway, this one had enough holes to fit the Ike run of clad and silver business strikes and proofs with two spots left over. I used those two extra spots to display the two major reverse types at the end of the album. None of the coins are anything special but they're not exactly dogs either. This is one of my albums I actually get off the shelf on a regular basis and flip through just for fun.

I'll typically use a Dansco album, and fill in the four unlabeled spots on the large page with:
1971-S SP with serif R ODV-005 (filling the front page with 1971-S SP with peg leg R ODV-004)
1971-D Friendly Eagle (filling the front page with 1971-D RDV-001)
1972 Type 2, and 1972 Type 3 (filling the front page with 1972 Type 1)

Cool ike I have currently for sale toning doesn’t really look like this unless you put a lot of light on it. MS65
It does look nice with a lot of light!
Do you have a photo of what it looks like with less light on it?
Here’s a video of it you can see when the light goes off of reverse looks darker. Obverse looks like the trueview but depending on the light the toning can be subtle

Cracked it from a proof set and made it a pocket piece 10 months ago. VERY pleased with its progress.
13 month update. On 10/20 it will be two years that this has been in my pocket everyday.
It’s wearing quickly - for a proof - and I’m surprised how smooth the lettering and devices feel.
@Zoins - Nice thread! It's kind of a shame you almost never see these in circulation. Makes me think of other modern coinage we rarely see in commerce. Besides for us collectors, it makes you wonder why they were even minted.

It's an interesting letter. My wording probably wasn't the best. I understand the reason Eisenhower and others being placed on coinage and minted... Which is an extraordinary honor!
It's a bit of an oxymoron to me... Minting coins for circulation that never really seem to make it into circulation. Kennedy halves, small dollars, etc..
Sorry to change the subject of your thread @Zoins. Sounds like a topic for a new thread.

Rare 1960 Eisenhower Japan Appreciation Medal. Designed by Frank Gasparro. Original mintage 500. Only 86 specimens are available to collectors as the unissued medals were returned and destroyed by the US Treasury.
President Eisenhower made the decision to cancel his visit as the Japan government could not guarantee his safety if he visited Japan. The recently signed US-Japan Defense Treaty was unacceptable by citizens and there were ongoing uncontrolled riots protesting the Treaty.
And I did like Ike. My dad was in the highway patrol and riding a motorcycle in a parade adjacent to the car Ike was in. A bee then flew up the cuff of my dad’s glove and stung him. He lost control of the cycle and tipped over. He was not hurt except embarrassed. Ike had the car stopped and got out to check on him.
No doubt. It is.
In this case, the photos do not allow certain identification of March dies or August dies.
Does the March or August dies really matter?
As a serious collector of Ikes in general, and die varieties in particular, yes, they do matter. However, to more causal Ike collectors, and to valuations, no it does not matter.
.
That said, my collection includes both March and August die representations, including pre and post obverse die chip / reverse die crack for the March dies, pre and post obverse clash for the August dies, and a 1972 Type 1 reverse paired to the March obverse die in it end of production stage. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQNYA6eX72TC9eFp2mj3XmFZnUVS55b-WpbKCgMXMrnBpuxLwC4MNiX3QJoOeWsNKv5CPKeng7yOdA2/pub

Steve- I'm in the casual column for these guys. That link is over the top incredible! Stunning! It would take me a year to digest all that! That's some phenomenal research you did there! 👍 It's almost like it was documented during the minting process of each variety. I really don't know what I'm reading or looking at but I'm bookmarking this link. Thanks! 👍

Steve- Let's talk Eisenhowers. Now that I have a splitting headache trying to figure out what I have, I'm coming back to you. This is what I found from your page. The coin has a lot of hits. Not sure if their gouges, die scratches or hits. It looks like it's got the ball cap and a few other things going on. Getting the lighting, focus and angle right wasn't easy. Take a look. What do you think?

The CU had these fifty-three Ike’s when I went to get cent wraps. They’ll have to wait until I study.! No 1973’s.

Thanks for the video. Nice looking coin!
The coin as shown in the video actually looks lighter to me than the TrueView, on both sides.

Here is a TrueView of a nice 1978-S Eisenhower proof dollar I sold several years ago. Now in an anonymous registry set.
An authorized PCGS dealer, and a contributor to the Red Book.
Here are my first three shots at Ikes, 66, 65, 66. More to come on this enticing big little short series.
My first and last
only Ike a gorgeous MS 67
