1970 S Penny, This Time....

Ok so Ive bought some really great penny rolls from banks locally and I have tons of questions but this is my first. I think I finally found the 1970 S Penny. Well actually 2nd one but the one I found a few days ago was in horrid condition.
, when you have a penny that has extra numbers and words on it in odd places like by neck or on Lincolns head , is that post mint? I have found about 5, including one of those on a wheat penny and a 1982 canadian cent. So what do y'all think?

It's always cool to find an S-mint in change but this one is also a large date. There were excellent diagnostics posted in the previous thread. Also, know that the odds of finding a small date are really tiny or they wouldn't be worth so much more!

Once you see the small date in hand it's pretty easy to spot.

There is what some people call a "medium date" that might be confused with it but most collectors just call that another large date.

Look at the loop of the nine.

Yep... large date.....Nice old '35 cent. You are searching a lot of rolls, and for sure you will find something... diligence pays off....Cheers, RickO

  • It's a 1981 I believe I have to go recheck. I found 2. 1981 and 85. Also the 35 is a good looking one. I am going to different local banks and have found some pennies I just am so busy I have them all in a giant box separated ones I initially don't see anything them plan on going back over them. ..eventually. I know I have ADD and have 20 projects. I'm an artists, antique reseller, day job of Esthetician and a mom. It's hard t focus on one thing but working on it.thanks guys I appreciate you like you have no clue. Thanks for taking time to answer and being informative and so darn nice. The search continues....

I enjoy seeing your posts/pictures and questions... you seem very interested and certainly detail oriented. I know you will find something good..... Remember, if those good coins were common, they would not be the 'good' ones.... :);) Cheers, RickO
