This is the message he sent me when I asked why the listing was removed. Looks like your bugging him worked. I asked him to let me know if he re-lists it.

Sorry, there was a member who got upset that I wouldnt give them a buy it now price and they started harassing me. So, I just took it down so I wouldn't have to deal with them****

The Alcindor auction is no longer running but the guitars are. It looks like eBay ended the auction because it doesn't show that there were any bids. If the seller had stopped it the bid history would show cancelled bids.

What's odd in this case is that typically you cannot see the ended listing if ebay poofs it, as the first link to the first listing in this thread illustrates. In this case, it shows the seller ended the listing early but you cannot see any canceled bids, either.

I was bugging him quite a bit about turning him in for fraud. Since I have his contact info I believe he just ended it. He probably is hoping we don't catch his next scam username doing it again, but we know he will. He has lots of fakes to dump...

LOL - it was pretty funny messaging him--was hoping to trap him in a crime admission other than his BS about not knowing what he has and he found it in a wall of an abandoned house of poor people. I guess after he was shown the thread I couldn't pretend I was just curious so I went for the jugular. He even told me he tried to give them that 25k that was in the wall but they wouldnt take it and told him to keep it..LOL. Goes from Good Samaritan to counterfeit scam artist committing fraud--what a loser.

I could have just contacted concierge as well, but I didn't feel like bothering those superstars. It does make me wonder why ebay doesn't IP Ban users who violate terms. At least for 90 days or something. Not that it would stop much with proxies, but it would at least deter it more.

I am sure he will be back as he is still selling those guitars...

Looks like handymanoncommand-8 has been removed again. Ebay followed up with me when I alerted them about the new account and said they would take care of it. I am sure he will open up yet another Ebay account but until then chalk one up for the good guys.

Just a quick update from this thread. I received this from a postal inspector. Happily shared all info. I had. Hopefully they nailed this scumbag.

    JBrules,

I am a Postal Inspector in Omaha, Nebraska, and I am investigating the sales by eBay userIDs monfutsu and handymanoncommand-8. I see you may have had contact with this individual through eBay messaging. It also appears you had contact with eBay regarding this individual. I am wondering if you would contact me to discuss this matter, as I would like to obtain your communication with the seller and eBay as part of my investigation.

This person's name is Thomas Beatty from Omaha NE. A Federal Grand Jury recently indicted him on 5 counts (mail fraud, wire fraud, 2 counts of money laundering and possession of counterfeit currency. He's already done time for printing counterfeit currency.

Great to hear that this person got served justice!!! Nice to know that when I initially contacted Ebay about this guy that it went through the proper channels and the end result is what it should be. Thanks for the update.

    Awful.

Then is it a legitimately graded reprint card, with a faked flip inserted? Otherwise how would he get a card into the slab like that? I don't see any crack lines around the card itself.

There has never been a reprint of either "tall boy" sets in original size. Several were reprinted in standard size including the Abdul-Jabbar but modified to show he had changed his name.

I didn't see this thread when new as I was away from the forum at that time.
