Detect aluminum coin with a handheld metal detector

I have a metal detector to find coins. Aluminum is the easiest to find. Bronze Penny is also easy. Never found nickel!
The aluminum composite material reaction is so much that if you have a lot of flip tops in the area, it is hard to find a coin.

I am not sure where you are detecting, but there are no U.S. aluminum coins... well, there are a couple of trial aluminum cents, but never produced for circulation. So I would not worry about that. Cheers, RickO
If your not finding nickel your discrimination is too high. Nickel comes in above iron and foil but below pull tabs.
There are some aluminum tokens from years ago. They are pretty oxideezed if you find them
