Probably not a big enough sample, but.............

I got 5 rolls of quarters from my local bank today, trying to find the elusive 2011- & 2016-dated ATB quarters we still need for our collections.
No luck finding what we needed, so I turned my attention to the broader "needs" list I had from a fellow collector. No luck there either.
Then I realized that, of the 20% of the coins represented by ATB's, not a single one was dated 2013 or earlier. All were 2014-2017.
Is this result just due to my small sample size, or have others seen a similar break-down of date distribution? Is it possible that the earlier years were collected more intensely for folders, etc & haven't been put back into circulation yet, and interest/holding of more recent years has waned? Or do mintage numbers have a role in what I'm finding (or NOT finding)? Or something else?
As a side note, 2 of the 200 quarters (1%) were D-mint Bicentennials (I live near the Philly Mint) - - for some reason, I still pull these aside (still love their design).

I'll pickup a roll or two per week, and have similar results. I have a hard time pulling anything worth saving for my ATB folder. All current coins are saved from making change.
I once lucked out from a hand roll. Someone must have taken their folder to the bank that day. I was able to pull about seven choice coins from the first 3 years of issue. Pretty cheesy to get excited about, but 'this the joys of collecting
We should compare "needs" lists................ :-)
I had no idea there were scarce quarters from that time/series.... thought they were abundant... seem to be in change anyway..... What specific dates are you looking for? Cheers, RickO
Not scarce, for sure, but elusive for me to find the last few we need at least..... especially since they are primarily D mint-marks & I'm from just outside Philly. We're forever behind on the D's......
Trying to find 2 from 2011 for my niece (Olympic & Vicksburg), and mostly D-mints from 2016 (haven't made their way East yet) for myself, boys, & niece :
Shawnee: - D(2)
Harper's Ferry: - D(2)
T. Roosevelt Park: - P(2) & D(3)
Ft. Sumter: - D(2)
