This is a dark side piece but given all the talk of China and counterfeiting to which there is no good solution, I thought it would be interesting to post a defeat here.
I thought the symbolism of the lion and dragon was a very interesting depiction of China losing the First Opium War.
I got killed on this one. It had an estimate of $4,000 - $8,000 but ended up going for over $26k. Strong market.

Great reverse design.... a lot of detail.... Cheers, RickO
Magnificent design!
Amazing medal... I do not recall seeing one in hand before. Thanks for posting. I would have thought a image like this would create more responses... Even if it is just wow
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Wow, I wanted to get this Bronze which had a pre-auction estimate of $8,000 - $10,000.
It ended up going for over $50K last night!
Exonomia is hot!
Kind of makes the silver seem like a bargain now.
It's interesting to think that the US defeated the UK in 1783 but China was essentially destroyed by the UK in 1842 to the point they are still recovering.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Yes sir ... That's nice!
Time to make more so I can spend more!
Boy oh boy.....Young Victoria was a cutie in her day.....combined with that reverse......
Wow....just wow.....!
Imperialism at its worst. The opium wars. It is still a great medal and in exceptional condition considering its age, metal and relief.
Very cool reverse design. Thanks for showing.
