@PackGeek ep #34 is officially live! Join us in busting some 1989 Hoops Basketball. We're talking about collecting as a kid and there may be a Charles Barkley impression thrown in (completely out of left field). Thanks for letting me share!
@Stone193 Hahaha - thanks so much, Mike! I don't know what scares me more, thinking about my cards in the spokes of a bicycle, or the Worm playing the role of United States ambassador
@Big80s said: @Stone193 Hahaha - thanks so much, Mike! I don't know what scares me more, thinking about my cards in the spokes of a bicycle, or the Worm playing the role of United States ambassador
@lahmejoon - Thank you! I was pleased to pull the cards I did. It was definitely a gamble. Fortunately, those small basketball sets are a pack-rippers' dream. Your odds of pulling a big card are much better.
@Stone193 - Thanks, Mike! I picked that pack up from an REA auction last Fall. The cards looked really nice. I'm planning to submit several of them, including all of the big hits, for grading.
@secretstash - Thank you! The Dominque sticker looked pretty good. I believe it's in my pile to submit. I will have to review to be sure - but I believe it had great corners/surface, but the centering was a bit off.
Hey Bobby! I seem to miss the National every year, despite my interest in attending. This year I feel like I “need” to be there to spread some PackGeek love.

Bring some shirts and I will wear one as a member of the Pack Geek Mob.
PackGeek #36 is live - and we're ripping 1982 Topps Football. We're trying out a more long-form episode (this one is 17 minutes), and I'd love to get feedback from you guys. Do you feel like 17 minutes is too long, or are you okay tuning in that long if the content is good? Let me know how you feel about it. You guys are always my test audience! Thank you!
Fun stuff. The rips are the highlight, the guests are fun...but the sound effects are priceless. The Manster porn pizza delivery doorbell had me rolling.
52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.
I do like the commentary and learning about people's backgrounds regarding their collecting (how they got started/what they collect/why they collect). Also, a little "show and tell" would be fun as well...maybe have them bring something from their collection that is special to them and discuss it...along with some of the items in your personal collection and share your thought on them in your individual pack rip videos. I don't think the 17 minute video was "too long" by any means..
Love the videos and keep up the great work!
Jeremy
@Cory1976 - Thank you, Cory! It's a pretty good-looking Montana, and it's one of my favorite second year cards out there. And good eye on the Bo shirt - he's legend in my eyes! Thank you for watching.
@vintagefun - I'm really happy to hear that people like the sound effects. Some people HATE them Early on, when I was editing myself, the sound mix was awful and I think the super loud sound effects really bothered some people. Now that we've got a professional cutting every episode, I think the sound effect are a lot less aggressive. Thank you for always having our back!
@MantleFan23 - Jeremy, I really appreciate the thoughtful input. And your idea regarding the show-and-tell is something I also plan to incorporate into future episodes - assuming I can get some guests to indulge me and bring some of the collection. Thank you for your feedback.
@lahmejoon - I'm really hoping most of peeps watching feel this same way. I realize some folks have a really short attention span, but if I'm able to let the video breath a little more - I think we could get into some really interesting information and more banter. This show is always evolving, and we're sort of in the experimental phase now. Thank you!
@Stone193 - Thank you, Mike! Oliver is so good, and that fact that he's a legitimate collector (of all sorts of stuff) makes him an ideal guest for a setup like this. I am so grateful that people like this are interested in being on PackGeek.
Hello, Friends!
A new episode of @PackGeek just went live today. I'm busting 1989 Score Football with Tracy Hackler of Panini America. We chat about collecting and the hobby in general. I think you'll enjoy it!
@Stone193 - Hey Mike! Thank you, as always, for your thoughtful response. I completely agree - it's important to keep a somewhat narrow focus, in order to manage expectations. Trying to buy everything can lead to a broke and depressed collector.
I'm hoping I have a chance to interview a lot more hobby influencers through the show. Since I'm just a collector, it's always interesting to hear the different perspectives out there. Thanks for watching!
Hello friends!
It's been a while, so I wanted to drop in and share a new episode that just posted today. I'm opening 2018 Flawless Football w/ Tracy Hackler from Panini. It's always fun to have Tracy on the show, and Flawless Football does not disappoint. Thanks for letting me share guys!
Stephen - It's great to hear from you too, my friend! Thank you as always for the positive vibes! The word on the street is that a handful of the old mainstays are back on the CU boards. It was encouraging enough for me to come back and see what's going on. The Flawless proposal would make for an epic video!
Mike - Thank you for your continued support of the show, buddy. I'm happy you're still getting a kick out of these episodes. A lot more to come!
I had a chance to film some new episodes of PackGeek at a local sports card show last weekend. It just happened to be the biggest show we've had in the Dallas area in two decades, which made it that much more fun. So the first episode we filmed was 1985 Topps Baseball - my old faithful go-to, and it did not disappoint. Thanks for letting me share!
Jeff, your videos are always extremely well done. Whether its a sound effect, a flashback, etc.... I am always impressed with them. Can't wait for the next one.
Mike - Did I refer to Hilary as the "boss"? I can't even remember. If so she'd probably love hearing that. I definitely refer to her as the Executive Producer, which will forever be the case while I'm filming episodes in "her" kitchen
nam - Thank you, brother. We put a lot of work into the production of these episodes, so it's really nice to hear when people appreciate it.

You didn't Jeff.
Josh did. I refer to her with my retired buds at the bookstore as the boss all the time. Just like to get a "rise" out of the boss of 38 yrs and counting.
With Dirk's recent retirement, I decided to do a Dirk Tribute video, and rip some 1998-99 Topps Chrome. I'd never opened this product before, as it came out during a period of time that I'd stepped away from the hobby - so it was a lot of fun to revisit a set that I missed during my absence. Anyway, thanks for letting me share! Jeff
Hey Mike! I'm still kicking! Did I really diss Goose & Jack? I need to show a little more respect than that These '83 & '84 packs have gotten the best of me lately!
Any of our CU homies going to the National this year?

Definitely just messing with ya Jeff. Easy not to think about a couple of pitchers when you're looking for the heavy hitters in the set.
I'm not going this year and I haven't really talked with many this year.
I do know that Keith aka KendallCat will be taking his son - Keith - unless there's a change - his wife - Misty - won't be attending.

Hiya Jeff
Fully enjoyed - sorry didn't know Josh - had to look him up.
When you were a kid? I was middle aged.
Was never up or down on the "Worm" until he went to N. Korea.
Nice "Barkley"
On the cards in spokes?
I've got enough 92UD to spoke every bike in the free world!
@Stone193 Hahaha - thanks so much, Mike! I don't know what scares me more, thinking about my cards in the spokes of a bicycle, or the Worm playing the role of United States ambassador

A push.
Who wants to open up some 1986 Fleer Basketball!!?

Great stuff, Jeff. I enjoyed that one. Those were some solid hits out of a very expensive pack!
Nice RCs Jeff.
How did the cards look? 8? 7? 9?
How/when did you get this pack?
Thanx again.

Nice job Pack Geek. Think that was a decent pack. How did the Dominique Sticker look? That is a pretty big 10, any shot?
@secretstash - Thank you! The Dominque sticker looked pretty good. I believe it's in my pile to submit. I will have to review to be sure - but I believe it had great corners/surface, but the centering was a bit off.
Jeff
Jeff, as I commented on FB, I truly enjoy your videos. Will you be attending the Natty, with some Pack Geek rippage from Cleveland?
Hey Bobby! I seem to miss the National every year, despite my interest in attending. This year I feel like I “need” to be there to spread some PackGeek love.

Bring some shirts and I will wear one as a member of the Pack Geek Mob.

Great pull on the Montana. It looks sharp. The video might be a little long but still entertaining. Cool Bo shirt by the way

I don't think it was too long either. Had the dialogue not been entertaining, maybe, but I enjoyed it very much.
Fun to watch Jeff.
Oliver's a funny guy. I like his "quick wit" humor about "hogging the e's" - the "face mask" thing e.g.
Length? Was OK with me since it was entertaining.
Good show buddy.

Bravo Jeff!! I like the show and tell suggestion too. Love the way the episodes are evolving.

Thanx Jeff!
Tracy made a good point that I'll expand upon a bit.
The market like the universe has expanded exponentially.
To have fun, one has to limit their focus and not spend all one's time disappointed about "all" the product out there and how it's greedy.
What I'm not a big fan of? Topps having the exclusive so that Panini has to airbrush the logos and stuff.
On the "age" thing.
When we did a poll - 67% of the people here who responded were between 40 and 60.
Enjoyed this - and "Bo Knows!"

Jeff, we've missed you brother. your vids never disappoint.
that was some aesthetically pleasing product you busted. i'm not going to ruin it for everyone, but i'm quite fond of the very last card.
btw i can totally see it now -- a CU member drops to a knee..........and hands his significant other one of these cards with an embedded diamond
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Hiya Jeff
Before I watch your video.
I posted on my "where's geek" thread that I found #63.
You have #65 above - so here's #64 also.
Thanx for sharing - this always "livens up" the forum for me!
Will reserve comment till after I watch.

McGwire RC - nice pull by Josh.
BTW, my wife no like when I refer to her as the "boss."
But I use it anyway.
Nice touch:

Good evening, Friends!
With Dirk's recent retirement, I decided to do a Dirk Tribute video, and rip some 1998-99 Topps Chrome. Opened and collated a 2019 Bowman blaster while watching.
No No card?
LOL! That makes me think we definitely busted through our viewers' attention space window. I appreciate you watching, Mike!
Jeff
Haven't seen Jeff in some time.
Here's his latest - unfortunately he whiffed it on the RC's ripping 83T packs.
https://youtu.be/WsDVDTjfJZg
One thing for Jeff
He hit a few "key" players but dissed a few HOF pitchers. Goose Gossage and Jack Morris.
I find threads like PackGeek aka Jeff a nice addition to our forum.
Hey Mike! I'm still kicking! Did I really diss Goose & Jack? I need to show a little more respect than that These '83 & '84 packs have gotten the best of me lately!

We'll miss ya in Chicago, Mike! Hopefully you'll be able to make Atlantic City next year. I'm planning to bring PackGeek Jr to that one!
