XF. PCGS will probably call it 40 with a grade loss for the S11 gouge.

Ignoring the gouge, XF40 or XF45 details. I think it might land in a Genuine holder because the gouge is probably deep enough to make some people say, "how did this get in a graded holder." What a cool coin, though, with shattered obverse and reverse dies.

XF but IMO TPGS = AU-50. Note how little wear is on the raised break crossing the obverse. Very little wear on the reverse. W/O the change of color on the obverse it would just look like weak strike rather than wear.

I think they will ignore the gouge once the coin is circulated.

Solid 35.How could the graders ignore a gouge that big?

While VF would have been the usual grade a long, long time ago, I don't think it would "fly" today. And...no telling what the graders will do. Already said it's a nice looking and OLD coin. If the surfaces are not all buffed up, the gouges are the only problem. As I said TPGS = AU-50. If they do ignore the gouge, maybe they will XF the coin.

If marks are old or blended into the surface you have a better chance at it straight grading, may take a couple times.

XF40 details, gouge. For PCGS, a "Genuine" holder as the gouge is very obvious and distracting.

    All glory is fleeting.

I'd venture XF45, but no grade most likely. Its really a cool coin outside of the damage.

I agree with the rest of the folks here, XF, but the gouge will keep it from straight grading.
    Really cool DM, nonetheless.

45 by wear only. Reverse would go 50. The gouge would prevent a straight grade.

There is no way I would accept a straight graded coin with a gouge like this coin has! That gouge is DEEP

The gouge is too obvious for PCGS to straight grade this coin.

I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

I believe that would get a Genuine label.... outside of the problem, it would be an XF.... Cheers, RickO

    Die-Crack-A-Doodle-Doo! I'd say somewhere between AU'ish and VF'ish.
