Likely my best coin related find....books from the estate of a long time coin dealer.
Here in Charleston, WV, Doug Bumgardner was a fixture in the hobby. He had a coin shop with piles of material and was always at the local shows. He passed away in 2015 after a long life. https://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSob=c&GSlh=1&GRid=143599126&
Well, completely by accident, I came across his estate sale yesterday. It was just a sign on the side of the road. I was in the line to get in when I learned whose estate it was (I have a little booth in a local antique mall), so I asked at the door if there were any coin related items for sale. They told me no, that everything went with the shop.
BUT, they didn't consider the books, which were 50 cents for the paperbacks, and $1.00 for the hardbacks. Going in, my intention was to flip my purchases, but now I'm happy to have these as part of my collection. The "Monnaies Francaises" books are signed to Doug by the author in 1980 at the Cincinnati ANA meeting. Some of these are quite hard to find.

Some great references and books there, congrats!
"Chopmarks by Rose" is well worth having. Books signed by Mr. Gadoury are scarce,-ish, he died in his early 50s. I also have a copy of a similar edition signed by him, endorsed to me personally.
Awesome find! There are a few in there that I would love to own myself. Congrats!
Always looking for tougher PSA 10's of Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, and Mike Trout.
LOVE the Bolender book!!!
Drooling....
So happy for you!
An outstanding group of numismatic books, and the price was right.
Score!!
Holey Moley!!! What a treasure trove... and so cheap. I would have also bought the entire group. I do have Rose's Chopmarks, but would have bought it as well.... Great score...Cheers, RickO
Great pickup.
Nice...
I hit an estate sale last weekend. Bought 500 LP's and 45RPM for about $200.
Amazing collection of classical and opera.
Sad in a way to picking over somebodies life like vultures. There were hand written notes and press clippings of many of the singers as well.
Fantastic. Who knows where they would have ended up if you weren't there.
I knew Doug and dealt with him in the late 1970s and early 1980s prior to going in the Army. A month or two prior to his death, I visited Doug at his shop. It took a while for him to remember me, but when he finally did he said: "Do you have any more of those Confederate bills I bought from you?" After thinking about it, those were the first things I sold to Doug back in the 1970s. Great guy. And...Congratulations on the books!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
What a score! Congrats!!
Nice score for sure !
Nice!!
Thank goodness those nice books found a home, it would have been such a shame had they gone to recycling or -gasp- landfill . Outsanding assortment!
