Anyone up for MetalPorn? Memorial Day Weekend edition:

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,935 ✭✭✭✭✭

Memorial day is not to thank our current and former living troops (that's Veteran's day). This holiday is to celebrate those who paid the ultimate price. So how about some metals that remind you of our troops, our flag, our allies, and battles?

If that's too heavy a theme, maybe an "unofficial" start to summer theme?

Or just your favorite new or old purchases :)

The Peace dollar was originally designed to commemorate the end of WWI:

And here's a shot I took awhile ago with stair-stepped big bullion bars:

We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

If I posted a picture for the Memorial Day theme, it would be brass... fired brass, representing the bravery of our troops who defended our liberty and way of life with the projectiles that left the brass..... Cheers, RickO

A 1944 cent would appropriately represent the use of recycled shell casings.

@crazyhounddog... That is a beautiful silver coin.... Is that surface marred between the arm and the wing? Or is it on a slab? Cheers, RickO

It's on the plastic holder. This piece has never been out of the holder.
Thank you for the compliment. I think they are beautiful too.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

That 500g MG bar looks very similar to the 1kg one we picked up not long ago, had to add one of those to the collection, we only have a few vintage bars from Australia, but my list has more than a few refiners on it LOL
