Anyone have pix of burned slabs?

I've never seen any, but some slabbed coins must have gone through a fire.

Anyone ever see the results?

    Fortunately the stickers were asbestos.

    Did someone say "abestos"?
I've alerted a hazemat team and three trucks are on their way here......

I've seen pictures of burned and melted slabs before, but I don't remember where they were posted.

I wonder how many in the pile were able to get the same grade? And if any went up a point or more?

A lot of work involved in that conservation effort.... very expensive work. Cheers, RickO

I'd still like to see an individual coin and see how fire affects it.

I have always wondered, what would happen if my bank burned down to the ground along with the contents of my SDB? Would you just be out the money or what?

If your bank burns down to the ground, I better not be out any money.

I still recall the great shoe warehouse fire. Over 800 soles were lost.

So these are not in slabs but these surrvived a propane explosion that leveled a 3000 square foot house in 20 minutes way back in 1971... these were found in the rubble... Several silver coins survived the fire but my uncle cleaned all of the soot off of them with a wire wheel.

    Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,

I've been burned on a few slab deals, otherwise, no.

My friend had his house destroyed by a gas explosion... the place was literally leveled... the only thing left standing (and yes, he has a picture and it was in the local paper) was his gun safe.... right in the middle of - nothing - but splinters and trash. Fortunately, no one was home at the time... and the gas company was found liable (they had filled the tanks and left a leak.)... His coins (not a large collection) were safe in the safe. :) Cheers, RickO
