Travelling I-95 in the 1970's (Toronto to Florida family vacations) my brother and I bought a truckload of those coins.
Back then, I believe they cost 25 cents and I remember one particular machine in a plaza in Harrisburg PA.
The motel had a par 3 golf course right on the property and across the road was another closed down huge hotel that my brother and I walked through and was very creepy.

Now that is something I have never encountered... or even heard of... a coin vending machine.... Most vending machines just take coins and many do not give you ANYTHING!!
