    Ebay autogenerates those "sale" messages. Some sellers will raise prices for a variety of reasons: spot is up, market up, raise it to make a potential watcher feel like a deal is getting away, etc.

    This message that you see is all ebay. It looks good when one lowers a price, but it will look weird when the price goes up. Ebay should likely do a better job of programming so that price increases don't generate these sale messages.
