Felt lined coin trays for a Coin Cabinet - where can I find them?

All,

I'm considering making (or buying if need be) a coin cabinet. As such, I would like to have coin trays for this coin cabinet, similar to those shown in this ebay auction link (below). If anyone has any recommendations where I can go to buy such trays similar to those in the link that would be most appreciated. I have no exact/precise size requirements for such a coin tray, and would consider making a coin cabinet to fit one of the coin trays I buy.

Or, maybe making a custom, felt-lined coin tray will be easier than buying them from a manufacturer?

Thanks in advance for any assistance, recommendations and leads you can provide!

I don't know if this will be of any help or not, but there is a company called Brooklyn Coin and Stamp Gallery that has just about any supply related to coins that you could think of.
It might be B rooklyn Gallery Coins and Stamps???

If you are going to make a cabinet, you should be able to make round hole trays. I have seen trays for 2x2s.

A company called Peter Nichols make mahogany cabinets with felt lined drawers both for raw coins and also for certified coins or both in the same cabinet. They are solid mahogany with brass hardware. I have one of the 28 drawer cabinets for raw coins. It has circulars openings with felt inserts for raw coins. They are beautifully made and many sizes can be made. If you find the company on the internet at this link:

    Hope this helps

Check jewelry supplies. They use felt lined trays for display.

I have seen these for ancients. I searched for "red felt coin tray" on google and found this:

I used to sell those trays around $5-$7 each (my factory cost was around $2) a few years ago when I ran three custom jewelry stores plus a wholesale in downtown manhattan. I am pretty sure you can still purchase around the same price if not less since custom jewelry business is dead.

I have three coin cabinets, all with felt lined drawers... and all procured either from an antique shop or ebay... easier than making one myself... leaves time for other things... ;) Cheers, RickO

These have escalated in price since the days of being able to purchase for around $2. each. You can purchase them from Ed at Tidewater Coin Supply and he will ship them to you. I purchase them from him at the shows around Maryland, VA and PA.

Thank you all for your excellent responses. I will be exploring the idea of just purchasing one of the beautiful coin cabinets from Peter Nichols, but also looking into making a coin cabinet myself (I enjoy seeing what I can accomplish).

@Bodin made a nice thread here last fall with lots of details on how he made his own coin cabinet, by modifying a dresser to use thinner drawers:

That was an amazing thread.... to watch the progress from start to finish was great fun.. and it is truly a beautiful piece of furniture at completion. Cheers, RickO
