Received this coin today, it is extremely clean and has tons of luster. I was looking through all the varieties I could find, but don't seem to find anything matching this. Also what do you think for a grade? The photos were done with my cell phone, but are pretty true to life.

I assume you are referring to the crack along the tops of OF AMER . I don't see it listed at the online variety sites.

The surface looks pebbly and the rim under UNITED does not look smooth like one might expect from a MS specimen.
So I'd be concerned about the potential to be a counterfeit. I'm not an expert, though.

It's the 'Fancy 5' variety, for what that's worth.
Also appears to be a late die state, and maybe a shallow 'N' too, but only recall seeing those listed for 1869-1871 dates.

Yes, I know it is the fancy 5 variety, but I was wondering if anybody could identify the die variety. So far as smooth edges here is an example of a MS65 Red graded by PCGS.

The MS-64 image is helpful, thanks. The rim does not look unusual in comparison with it.

Nice IHC....seems to have a rim ding at 3 o'clock... but slight... Cheers, RickO
