i'm guessing crazing due to die coating. is it a test strike
or just a poor strike. at first i thought the coin was electroplated???

Not sure. Maybe lube from the dies would be my guess.

Is it a rare or expensive date (yes, it can be either! they are not exclusive).

None of the above answers are correct. Look carefully. Look thoughtfully and with due diligance and the answer will stumble into your brain.

Give it an acetone bath.... let it set for a couple of hours... rinse with alcohol then hot water. I think that will disappear....Cheers, RickO

Looks like a proof, if so then it should have perfect steps. I agree with the acetone suggestion, likely just some "stuff" on the coin.

Oh, just noticed you tagged it proof
