Gotta love the description: "Very nice family heirloom coin. Reluctantly must sell because irresponsible grandchild got in over her head. This was hers from grandpa. Now maybe she will think twice before 'borrowing' my credit card."

I'll give them points for creativity beyond "estate sale" or just a family heirloom. That extra touch about the credit card shows they are putting in more effort into scamming someone.

    That's a good one

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

removed by the seller. probably didn't know it was a fake till it was brought to his attention.

When ebay pulls a listing you will see this:

"Money does not care about speeches on morality. Capital asks whether the rules will remain the same tomorrow. With inflation, people assume price is the problem, and propose regulation—but price is simply the message." - Martin Armstrong

The description certainly shows creativity... just enough to peak the interest of those who are looking for a good deal, not too much pathos to scare away the semi aware buyers... :D Of course the picture is enough to shut down experienced collectors... Cheers, RickO

This is a so-so fake, I mean it will fool a non-collector but it is likely to be detected by anyone with some experience, and certainly by a TPG, but these fakes keep on getting better and better. How long before their products are indistinguishable from the real thing? Will they be getting to a level where the TPGs can't tell them apart?

I don't understand how Ali Express can sell their fakes so cheaply. I mean, die making has some inherent upfront cost before you can strike the first coin. Maybe their coins are not die struck? Are they making them by a cheaper method?

You're viewing their listing for a counterfeit 1892-S Barber Half. This schmuk knows exactly what they are trying to do.
