Been looking for a sweet Clemente for my 1960 Topps set and took a chance on this one. Seller had zero feedback. It arrived packaged beautifully and is gorgeous!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I like that 5. Not a fan when I sub and I get a 5 back that looks like that.
I've always been a proponent of mid-grade PSA cards. You can get a lot for the money that way.
nice

Definite resub candidate! Nice card
Great looking card. What is the issue with it? A wrinkle or a flattened corner?
Awesome card. Looks like the print line caused it to get the grade of a 5.
PWCC sold a PSA 5 just like that one, including the print mark, for $110.62 in February. Here is a picture of that card. Based on that, how did you do?
I paid $79 for it. I'll crack it out later, but I think there is a very very light wrinkle in it that is barely visible if you tilt it and shine a light on it.

True but all PSA 5's are going to have some issues. I'd say you did pretty well. That's about a 27% discount.
Are you cracking out to resub, or do you prefer raw cards?
That is a great looking card.
Thanks,

Awesome Clemente PSA 5! Funny thing is I have found some of my best pickups in PSA 5. Some look like 7's or 8's, but a slight flaw that cannot be easily seen knocks the grade down - best part is it also knocks the price down 70-80% of a PSA 8. My favorite pickups:
Beautiful Clemente. Congratulations!
Awesome Mantles!!!!

Kendell I still want your 1953 Topps Mantle when you want to sell it. Dang, you have a great eye for cards.
Yes, some great cards in this thread. Some great eyes on here.
My favorite grade is 8.5. So many beauties out there at that grade and good not having to pay 9 prices

Amazing psa 5 I would love to have that card myself,
That 53 Mantle is GORGEOUS! Oh and the OP's card is a beauty too
Thank you for the nice comments guys. Used to be a "PSA 8 and above only" type of collector, but I have found that with some patience and searching one can find cards that look like an 8 but pay the price of a 5/6 which remarkably cost about 15-20% of a PSA 8.
Absolutely - although I have never taken it to the Natty and had it reviewed by PSA. Now that you mentioned it I will probably get 2 booths so I have enough space to handle the crowds. One booth will show the card to collectors and will hire security, get a case from Levi, and another guard to stand watch 24/7 - might ask Heritage who they use to watch their prized cards. Awesome advice - I better get started since time is running out before Chicago!
Here's a PSA 5 from my collection that I'm quite found of. Presents many grades higher imo. Having this one made it a little easier to sell the other one I had in a higher grade.
What is your opinion on 4s? I had this come back recently and wanted to vomit.
Depends on what you paid for it and if you are selling. For personal collection a 4 with one corner problem can look really sharp. My Jimmy B below is very similar and same corner
Glad I was able to brainwash you, homie. Took a while but you saw the light LOL!

I say the same thing about grades lower than that...

That 1953 mantle PSA 5 is a beauty, KC! That should certainly garner the certified high end sticker from Brent should you ever consign it. Beautiful card!

Thanks Tim. Very lucky when I got it, and i checked with PSA when I reviewed it and there is a tiny something near the top edge that you can only see with a 10x lens. If not for that it could/would be an 8 all day. Still chapped that I sold my PSA 8 back in 2000 pre half point grading system. That one would be an 8.5 all day, but at the time I was getting out of cards, getting married, building a house, and got a record price for it. In hindsight it was a mistake to sell it, but all of us have cards we wish we would have kept.
One thing I have learned from Matt(DM23) is that you can find gems in lower grades that have great eye appeal and save some big time money. I would say he is probably one of the best at it in the hobby. Feel like I am forgetting something else.....
The rookie Koufax is, well, I'm speechless.

I believe KC already stated that he had the card reviewed by PSA but that it didn't bump due to a small defect near the top edge of the card. Having it reviewed by PSA and having it reviewed by PSA at the National are two different things.

Why does this matter so much to you? I get calling a spade a spade, but this poster is not trying to sell the card that I am aware of. Unless you are player hating because he likes his nuts to hang a little lower while owning this card, I suggest you just admire like the rest of us. I would pay well above a PSA 5 for that. If you wouldn't, then you are buying the grade PSA assigned a holder. Besides, almost all of the grown ups here know that cracking that card out of the case could yield completely different results than any amount of "reviews". I hope he feels dared by you to do it, but I believe it is a PC item so the sense of urgency is missing.
What difference does it make, in any case?

i think it's time to bring out the jaws of life so we can extract the crisser from kendallcat's ass. i'd sure hate for him to be lodged way up in there and miss out on an opportunity to make it rain come natty time.
