Please agree!? It's very faint but I see it. And it has that die gouge dot on right wing

I think it is a Superbird. Many look more like a question mark than an s.

Lots of double posts this evening.

Looks like it to me, though I do not know if either PCGS or NGC will give the designation anymore.

I'm in agreement with the others above, looks like a superbird.
um.....what's a Superbird?
duh.
um.....what's a Superbird?
duh.
Just one will do.
I believe it is.
Yes it is - the first is enough to show it. It looks like a S, but In your case a backwards question mark.
Does yours have the re engraved tailfeathers?
No just the S viewed from some angles.
Wooo. What a pick. I got it for the light color and hints of chest mark!
I was hunting for tail feathers varieties and wound up finding 4 1953 401 cents re engraved, and a unlisted 1950 and 51 cent with touch ups.
I went in and attributed several re engraved proof denominations and the local shop, as sort of a resume for what I can do. Hopefully they will give me some more material to sort and get part time work

Nice pick!
I Googled it. An S on a quarter.
double post...whee
Lots of error messages. It's hard to edit. Or like. Or lol.
The 52 super bird is a proof Washington quarter with an engraved S on the chest. Like super man. It's a cherry picker variety fs901

Well I guess I will be the first one to say No. Your picture looks too low on the chest to be the S and not in the center. It is located higher up. I am sure if you look the coin up in coinfacts and it matches the location of that one than I am wrong......but I don't think so........One of the 67 cameo's is mine and I think I have about 4 more in my inventory...
Enjoy Tom

I'm surprised to hear you object @1tommy; I believe it is a Superbird.
Comparing the coin to the picture in coin facts, look at the position of the S on the 67 cameo. Maybe my old eyes are failing but even with his new picture I will stick with what I said. I need a picture of the whole coin reverse. That will show me the position of the S.
I said I could be wrong but with his pictures something is just off to my eyes. His picture makes it look lower and to the right and leaning s instead of straight S that it should be....

As a disclaimer, I have liked everyone's input. I did not click disagree on ANY one. I know this is super faint and seems like a stretch. It's definitely later die stage. Looks like a backwards question mark to me. The lowest part of S disappears into the deep spot above the groin

One that I just sold
and mine had re-engraved tail feathers
from aspie's pics, the one that shows it to me is the one with a dark circle, the rest is just mush to my screen/eyes
Lol me too. At least for pic sharing. Here are two extreme close ups. It almost matches the shape and placement of Daves. But I see now on comparison that mine is a little more to the right side of the dimple than centered over it. I'm going to call it close but no cigar. I'll still send it on for the $9 variety attribution special. Just for the heck of it. Unless this is a third super bird variety with a misplaced S ? ¿ @1tommy called it.

I've seen enough to convince me that it is a superbird.

I have a PF-62 of this example. Cool coin, yet how desirable in the big market?
Here are my 2 Superbirds, both graded PR67.

Thanks for taking the time to post the whole reverse......I still say no but as you say with the special its only 9 bucks to find out. I do want to post this reverse of a 1960's d Quarter.
Please take a look thru your magnify glass and tell me what you all think you see on the chest? This coin to me just shows that sometimes the bumps on the chest make it look like something its not....Good luck with your submission......I hope you will come back and let us all know the results.
Enjoy Tom

I believe.... and that is after falling off the fence on both sides at least twice ....that I do not see the 'S' as I have on authentic Superbirds..... I must say that I do see what you think is the 'S'.... and maybe it is a later die state.... Will be interesting to see what the TPG determines... Cheers, RickO
I feel iike the guy in the room who cant see the magic eye poster and asks everyone to describe what they see.

This quarter in question is with pcgs now. Time will tell.

I see what looks like someone etched into the die a backwards S so that when the coin is minted, a 'S' can bee seen on one of the central breast feathers - in most cases it is frosted, while the surroundings are not.
Congrats Aspie_Rocco , although some estimate as many as 15% of the 1952 proof quarters have this.
Nice score! I knew it was a superbird.
