Who forgets they have a $10,000 raw coin and then proceeds to take pictures of it and then sell it on eBay without realizing?!?
I came pretty close to that exact situation.
I bought a slabbed, tied for finest known PCGS seated coin off of Ebay for $6800...the only person who even bid. That was a stroke of luck as I knew it was worth $8K and up all day long just as it was. The coin turned out to be killer album toning stunner...and higher end as I expected. One of the most beautiful proof seated coins I've ever owned. I even had the coin checked out by Heritage along with some other coins and they agreed it was a very high probability to upgrade to PCGS 67. 3-4 years later I somehow dragged that coin out of the bank "on a low cash-flow induced stupor" and took it to a show w/o recalling the previous Heritage review. I just blew it. Sold the coin for 66+ money making a piddly 25%....never even attempting an upgrade or sticking it in auction. A few months later it turns up in a major dealer's inventory with the PCGS upgrade as finest known at 3X the price....and it sold immediately. DOH! At least the coin didn't CAC yet....so I feel a tad better...lol.

I think some are jealous they didn't snag the coin first.
Next week I am presenting a talk on collecting Capped Bust half dollars to my local club and this eBay cherrypick will be one of the stories.
