Using coins in every day life, unusually. And how to properly adjust car mirrors. Coin Lyfe!!!

So here begins a thread that will teeter on the borders, not to press my luck, but for a good laugh.
How to PROPERLY adjust vehicle mirrors with no blind spots:
Step one- enter drivers side, sit down in drivers seat. Do not fart, yet, as the window need to be up.
Step two- lean your head to the left until it gently bumps the drivers window.
Step three- Tape a US COIN to the window where your head hit. Then put your head against the coin while looking through the driver side mirror
Step four-adjust mirror until you just see the side of your tail light, or rearmost side corner, with head against US coin.
Step five- egress driver side (fart now) and enter passenger front seat repeat coin taping, head bump and tail light just visible
Now your mirrors are PROPERLY adjusted. When you look at the rear view objects on edges will also be in side mirrors. This entirely eliminates blind spots.
Step six- leave coin taped to window, optional, like a bumper sticker, to look cool to fellow coin nuts.
Disclaimer: if your vehicle is right hand drive, you have to use a Euro. I dont make the rules.
This concludes the first Coin Lyfe,

I just add the small convex mirrors to the external rear view mirrors.. Voila'.....everything can be seen...Cheers, RickO
Oops I accidentally gave a disagree while scrolling. Sorry @ricko I fixed it. The convex mirrors do help, but I spent that money on a nickel, lol.

I'm not following. How can you see your own taillight from inside the car?
LOL!
Great point I will edit to specify seeing the side of your tail light. Not the back

I usually just look into the rear view mirror to see if I can see what I want....if so, I'm good. Just don't get in any of my blind spots!

Customizable sprinklers using a large coin:

If your sprinklers need adjustment from hard water deposits you can customize the spray patters using a good sized coin! Instead of paying the sprinkler guy!! Make rainbows too!

Anyone who's in my blind spots while I'm driving 80mph down the wrong side of the freeway should consider themselves safe.
Well, the last fix on my truck to keep the clutch peddle from popping off the cylinder connecting rod required the use of a 1980 Lincoln cent. Drilled the center out to exact tolerance and held in place with an e-clip. Works perfect!
Have you priced standard washers recently
Why pay a nickel plus tax for a sloppy fitting washer when you can have a nice tight copper one for a cent...
I'm guessing you aren't a flat rate mechanic.

After living in Los Angeles, and doing body work, before Uncle Sam so graciously noticed my low draft number, it was very common to find Mexican coins welding or brazed, used as webbing to repair rust damage

That's the spirit! I have a target practice toss in the air shot through clad quarter laying around somewhere.

Coins make great golf ball markers. But I suppose that isn't all that unusual.

How to find your Boss wth coins when he or she is missing:
Ever notice that whenever you are doing something "wrong" your boss happens to catch you or find you. Late with those TPS reports? An extra 5 minutes at coffe? Or smoking? Standing on the top rung of a ladder to reach something? Get an unusual phone call or text right when/before they walk in. It's like radar.
But when YOU need them, where are they? MIA, Thats where.
Next time you NEED your boss or a superior, if you answer to someone, simply pull out your favorite US COIN and start admiring it. Or log onto this great COIN forum and read/talk coins. Or search eBay for that too good coin deal you've been waiting for.
Like a ninja your boss will drop down from a crevice in the ceiling, pounce from behind a plant, squeeze out of an air duct and say
"hey! What are you doing?"
Calmly smile and say "Looking for you"
it's like a having a Genie/djinn/jinn in a bottle!
Also
Using coins and rice to fix your wet phone:
Take wet phone and towel dry, then add to large ziplock bag of dry uncooked rice with 1 US COIN and leave it overnight. The rice with dry out the phone hopefully ina day or two and you can use phone again.
Conversely, if you are cooking rice and add too much water, simply throw in a US COIN and your cell phone. It will absorb water

Coins are good for scratch off lottery tickets.... used to be good for fuse boxes.... and the top of car batteries to limit terminal corrosion...penny loafers..... quarters for the rich kids...
Opening battery compartments on Laser sights...and of course, deciding kickoffs in football games...Cheers, RickO
I would say that I'm pretty much flat rate as I can't afford for pay myself by the hour!
Great thread.
Best thread of 2017.
Definitely agree... and has been happening far too often in recent years here in AZ.
Have a trashy misbehaving dog? Teach it some etiquette and grace. Careful use of US coins can help teach a puppy things like balance AND dignity. So the next time she/he drinks from toilet they will do so with poise.

How to conserve water with numismascaping. Not to be confused with man-scaping or landscaping. This is after all, the US Coin forum.

Are you in a drought? Water restrictions? Tired of cutting that lawn. Convert to a desert numismascape with numismatic accoutrements and save on water, gas, time!

Just a quick update on financial affairs, $0.50 is not what it used to be. I began to, or rather attempted, filling in this half dollar folder when I realized Ben has lost some weight and Thomas seems to have found it.

When I pulled it out, I found 9 Guatemala 10 Centavos coins that had been used to level the feet of the dishwasher on the concrete slab.
