"Picked" this DDO off the 'bay
This was listed un-attributed as a regular '42-D quarter.. Someone else must have also noticed what it was since it got bid up to almost $8. Still think I did well, what are your opinions? I should note there are also some slide marks on the cheek which I assume is acceptable for a coin of this grade?

Awesome pick- that is one STRONG doubled die. Congrats!
Sorry to sound dumb but how is it ddo? From fat flat letters?
That's awesome! Congrats!!
That plus the split serifs on the L and E are a dead giveaway.

Nice catch!
Ohhh, I see now! Nice pick.
Here's a higher-grade one. Liberty is doubled almost a full half-letter, and IGWT and the date show strong doubling as well:
Wow, quick replies on this. Thanks!
Do you think G-4 is about right on this?

Yeah, nice Cherry dude! I must of checked about 40-50 1942D's today, not one DD. You did good!

Great coin, an easy one to sell too.
It's more like a 6+/8 in my opinion.
A G04 is yesterdays AG03.
Nice catch.... had to look closely to see it, but it is there... Cheers, RickO
That is a nice pick, and if you sent it in a grade of VG would not surprise me. You can't judge those by the reverse, as the rim will be weak even in higher circulated grades.
I will say you're lucky I stopped looking for those a few years ago or it would have cost you more than $8. Back then I set a goal of cherrypicking all three major 1942 quarter doubled dies off eBay, It took about 18 months of constant searching but I eventually got them all - the '42-D DDO pictured above was the first one I found, followed by the '42-D DDR, and finally the 1942 DDR.
Hard to imagine you can still cherrypick such widely publicized varieties, but they are definitely out there.
