Went to a local show today...

...and picked this up.

This is definitely a 'stacker' coin for my Walker hoard.

I bought it just to support a local dealer that my friend and I really enjoyed talking to. I paid Greysheet ask plus I threw him an extra $10 bill to help pay for his gas and table fee.

He seemed very genuinely surprised and grateful. It is nothing special but it reminds of the nice time we had today and I don't think one can go wrong by adding a nice certified Walker to one's accumulation. I really enjoy these small regional shows and I want them to continue.

We had a great lunch afterwards on the way home at a little diner. Nice way to spend a Sunday morning and mid afternoon. :)

GTG if you'd like.

Is that a "D" or "S"? Can't really grade from pic, but if it is an "S" it is a pretty good strike.

I do this so often I think the local SLC shows just love to see me coming. After a while you get to know all the dealers and many have been there for you, helped you find a special coin, or tried to greet you a bit more enthusiastically, so you want to help the guys out if at all possible, without getting hurt too badly. I think now about 60% of my individual purchases are just for golf ball marks . . but the dealers don't know that. Then I find the occasional fun acquisition for my personal collection, and all is good. Once in a while . . . I can also find something midrange, just to add to my stash.

All those warnicks, circulated late date Walkers, G-VG Barber quarters, cheap CWTs, . . . . well, they become ballmarks for my golf buddies, but the small sales may help keep this declining bourse alive just a bit longer . . .

Nice Walker. Really hard to tell from the fuzzy pics . . but it looks like 65 luster . .

    Yeah, you're right.......those images aren't very good.

    It is a D.

I was gonna say - with that hammered obverse, I would have fallen over if it were an 'S'....
really hard to GTG, but would think it's a min 65....thanks for sharing with us!

Great looking Walker... My type of coin... ;) I wish we had small, regional shows here.. I would buy at least one coin every time just to see them continue... Picture too blurry to grade, but looks nice. Cheers, RickO

    Thanks, all-

The coin is graded MS 64. It has a great strike and luster but a lot of little nicks and abrasions, in the right field, that can only be seen under magnification and that don't show in the image, hence the 64 grade.

I agree, nice story. Kind gesture on your part.

Going to be honest though........that has to be one of the worse pics I've seen here in a long time, lol. ;)
I'm willing to bet that there is a nice Walker in that blur.
    Congrats.

Right below T&Y looks like chatter but wasn't sure if it was on the slab
due to the blurry picture. Nice luster and good story.
