Does Sunshine Mint have a good reputation?

DarinDarin Posts: 7,068 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm slowly getting back into silver after selling when we had the price spike several years ago.
My favorite form of silver is the silver eagle series from the US mint. Very easy to sell when the time comes.
Would like to get some five and ten oz. bars also, but engelhard and JM seem to carry higher premiums than
Sunshine on ebay.
Are sunshine bars popular? Easy to resell?

Popular, well known, easy to buy and sell, and extremely difficult to counterfeit due to their "MintMark SI".

I've got some of their 1oz and 10oz stuff, it's nice, and as you said the premiums are right

    I'd say go for it

My preference is the RCM Canadian mint 10 oz. bars. High quality, easy to sell. Much less fear of counterfeiting.

Sunshine, currently is arguably the most recognized and respected minter of generic silver in the USA...

Never buy or get a RCM bar, unless of course it's free or you find one in the streets...

While sunshine is highly recognized and respected (they supply silver blanks to the US Mint), their generic products are easily and often counterfeited. Unlike RT, many buyers know this and thus avoid them. There is a good reason premiums vary among PM products.

Passing a counterfeit silver eagle carries the same penalty as does passing a bogus $100 bill and both events are investigated and prosecuted by the same authorities. While all PM products can be and are counterfeited, those produced by a government's official mint offer a wee bit more protection. Consider it insurance.

Sunshine bars have the "MintMark SI" feature which is virtually impossible to counterfeit. Go to the JM Bullion web site and read about it.

I always liked the RCM bars with their 9999 fineness and being made by a government mint. Also, they have a very attractive design.

There is nothing wrong with the newer Sunshine minting products that have the SI m.m. One of my favorite bullion mints, along with RCM & Geiger.

Whether anything is counterfeited is absolutely meaningless...

to forum posters who only care to disrupt, you are correct.

to actual PM buyers and sellers, you are incorrect.

I am very pleased with their newer products with the SI technology.
They are probably the best considering the premiums.
    RCM is also very nice...
