Is this 1946-D/D (RPM) Jefferson Nickel a new discovery ? I just found it in a blue Whitman folder.
I know there is a D over horizontal D variety known (RPM #2), and also a D/D with the ghost D to the south of the main D (RPM #1). My RPM book doesn't list this one with the ghost D to the north.

A die state of RPM-005, maybe? varietyvista.com/05%20JN%20RPMs/1946DRPM005.htm
Yes, I think that is it, thanks.
Mine appears to be an earlier die state, but the position of both punches matches RPM-005.
Nice RPM.
Nice find... Old folders can sometimes produce a unique find or two....They get filled and put away often without such scrutiny or even before some anomalies are known... Cheers, RickO
Wiles still might want to examine/photograph it- he definitely has a later die state on Variety Vista... it's definitely a cool RPM.
Nice variety!
