Friday Metal Porn St. Patrick's Edition

The Irish have a long tradition of precious metal mining and smithing. Let's see some leprechaun pots of gold or Irish silver!

    Nobody? :(

Well here's a shot to keep the thread alive for tonight at least :D

Upper left is an Isle of Man "noble". It's a one ounce platinum coin.

Isle of Man is off the coast of Ireland, in the Irish sea between Ireland and England. So it's kinda St. Patricks-y ;)

Older stackers will remember these were kind of a hot commodity when they were first introduced in the 1980s. They lost favor with the introduction of the Pt maples and eagles. I still think they're sexy. They were the platinum equivalent of a krugerrand--as with the gold krugerrand, the noble was designed to be legal tender, circulating at the value of an ounce of platinum on any given day.

You guys never disappoint on Fridays. Love the pics!
I never made it to my LCS this week. If I wasn't working, I was digging out from winter storm Stella.

That 10 oz silver bar with the stylist U S flag is quite attractive. I'm going to have to pick up a couple. <3

Nice metals Sango! How do you like the silver bar tubes for storage?
Great looking stack, Geck. I really like the kilo RMC bars. I bought one last year from JM Bullion. What are those 2 poured bars in the top left corner? 10 oz. Engelhard and Sunshine?

  • Geckster109Geckster109 Posts: 231 ✭✭✭

    Yes and yes.

Downtown, thanks! The tube is awful neat, I have bought lots of bars but usually in the sheets. The tube style I like a lot!

Thanks. Those are not all stuff I just bought last week though! I have been an "on again, off again" stacker for more than 10 years. I just recently got back into it.

Sold some silver eagles at the coin show Friday for spot +2.10 which I thought was pretty good. Used the proceeds to buy a 2006 NGC MS69 Gold Buffalo for spot plus $35. Had fun doing it.

While I was at the show, a dealer had a binder full of walking liberty half dollars stolen from their table with about $5,000 worth of coins in it. I felt horrible for the dealer.
