I am EXTREMELY MAD this guy didn't call me first before going to the police!

....I would've loved to have searched through that bag!
...then turned it in. Replacing the ones I take, of course

Yep, a cherrypicker's dream!
Each $1000 bag weighs about 50 pounds. I carried many a bag out of the bank back in the early 1960's to look for dates that I needed. Those were the days!
Wonder if he got them back if nobody ended up claiming them?
If it makes you feel any better, I bet those bags are filled with washers if that is part of drama or crime series.
I ain't gettn' no pic.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
The law varies by state, but normally if you find anything of value you have to turn it over to the police.
If the rightful owner doesn't claim it within 30 days, then it goes to the person who found it.
Or if it was claimed you could ask the owner to let you search the bag.
Of course in 1954 the would all be silver but there could be some gems in there
How old were you in 1954, that you could afford to replace quarters?
How do you lose 2 bags of quarters? Someone had some 'splaining to do. That would have bought a new car in '54.

With a melt value of about $24k, those same quarters would pretty much buy a new car today too.
Collector, occasional seller
If it's any consolation, he didn't call me either. Course I was a mere 6 YO then.
That's a stacker's dream!

huh, wonder how the owner of the bags did not notice they were missing.
