it was a roll like this.

mine had a blue label, not red.

it came from the world reserve monetary exchange.

an example of the type of sales packaging

depressing NEGative reviews on "consumer affairs" site

similarly depressing BBB complaints

update;
$90 worth of coins ($10 went to someone else)

10 had scratches - after maybe $20,000+ of BU dollars I don't think I've ever had a scratched one let alone ~10% of them.

1 might go MS65
1 might have gone MS63 but it had a huge fingerprint on the obverse.
and the rest were full luster, BU MS60s

They seem to have nice boxes and albums. Some photos from the net:

    oh yeah. $50/roll

I think the head teller thought they were worth more than face.
"i'll bet you're happy to get these"
    "they're worth a dollar"
    puzzled look
"a lady brought them in. she just wanted to get rid of them. we have to tell them if they are worth more and we can only pay [face]"
"trust me. they are worth only a dollar each."
The look on her face makes me wonder if she believed me.

Ask a Federal Reserve vault manager what they are worth and listen to the cussing. Most people have no idea...imagine a Walmart filled floor to ceiling with rolls of these...that's what every Fed vault has looked like since they started making them.

Why do they keep making them???

I'm not sure if that's a serious question.

    A. Congress
    B. Seigniorage

A, more than B, but the actual reason is A, the side effect is B due to A's dumbass decisions.

And they (congress critters) are thinking of doing another 56-coin brassbuck series.

    Just say no.

I don't buy anything from the mint and the only modern coins I buy are the 2 new Dimes every year for my complete Dime set. I just can't do moderns.

    I spent mine.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    C. they are now only sold at a premium over face as well.

And, if the complaints on the 2 pages are read, there are more than enough people out there still sucked in.

I never even considered getting involved in these.... The only possible value I could see was for YN's to build a set and get involved in coins and off the video games. Cheers, RickO

I remember the advertising for the 'ballistic rolls'. It showed them being loaded into an armored car under tight security and talked about how potentially rare and valuable the coins might become.

The dealers I know would offer to buy those 'ballistic rolls' at face, and the general reaction from the people selling them was that the dealer was ripping them off. They would leave angry, but return the next day and accept the offer, because they had been to all the other dealers in town who offered face, or told them to take them to the bank.
