PayPal FUBAR

Ya gotta know this is first, and I hope a last. Leave it to PayPal to cause a headache like this:
Bought a coin from a forum member Friday (3/3). Had them send a PayPal invoice to keep it safe (ha !) and paid within 12 hours.
The package got shipped next day (3/4) from 65 miles West of me. No sign Monday. No sign Tuesday. Pm'ed forum member for Tracking #. It was shipped to an address that I haven't had on file with PayPal for 18 months. No fault of the seller. Talking to PayPal, they have no explanation as to how the old address got back in to my profile. I scoured my account, even looking at the earlier "Classic Site". NADA. So my package is floating around somewhere between my old address, the shipper's return address, and my current address (on file with PayPal since 8/2015)
The old address was a P.O. Box, so I have some small measure of confidence that a clerk there remembers me and forwarded it to me.
Ain't it grand ?

I bought a dime from dimeman and I mixed my po box and home addresses, which are in different towns.
Usps figured it out in a couple days.
Bst transactions with: dimeman, oih82w8, mercurydimeguy, dunerlaw, Lakesammman, 2ltdjorn, MattTheRiley, dpvilla, drddm, CommemKing, Relaxn, Yorkshireman, Cucamongacoin, jtlee321, greencopper, coin22lover, coinfolio, lindedad, spummybum, Leeroybrown, flackthat, BryceM, Surfinxhi, VanHalen, astrorat, robkool, Wingsrule, PennyGuy, al410, Ilikecolor, Southcounty, Namvet69, Commemdude, oreville, Leebone, Rob41281, clarkbar04, cactusjack55, Collectorcoins, sniocsu, coin finder
Call that post office and tell them to watch for it at that P.O. Box number.
According to the tracking summary, it already left that branch, with no updates for 36+ hours,
Needless to say, I'm not pleased about that.

Your package, sent to a PO Box, should be returned to the sender as, 'Forwarding Order Expired'.
The proper perspective is that the risk is covered by PP protection, but that doesn't do anything to cure the PP effup. It would only penalize the shipper, who is definitely not at fault here.

Had that happen with PP a couple years ago. Called, they had 'no idea' how it happened. The seller sent a replacement (it was not a coin) and I have a feeling they just ate the loss. I'd like to think PayPal made them whole but somehow I doubt it.
I STILL double check my address every time now.
you haven't seen anything until you witness it for real
OP, did you pay for it while on a mobile device? Such bugs have been known to happen like that.
Nope. Desktop.

Actually had that happen once with an auction company well after I changed my shipping address from Ca to Nv. I still have the box so all wasn't lost in my case. I just had to drive 275 miles to pick up the coin.
My Ebay Store
It's why, when I buy from people straight up, I make sure they have my address as well.
And why, when I sell to folks, I verify the address.
May make me seem too stupid to read, but it saves from headaches like this....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Sounds good in theory, but I wonder how many clerks actually check the name?
In my home mail box, the carrier taped a paper with my last name along with the digits in my address, so I guess my carrier is checking for it.
I had the exact same thing happen through paypal...not a coin, another product.... it ended up going to Seattle (old address) and then having to come all the way back across the U.S.... finally got it... took an extra eight days... Now, I always give the sender a separate message with my address...just in case. Cheers, RickO
