Cudley
cud, cud and more cud
is that a clip at 11 on the obverse?
slight clip on the rim at 11 o'clock, good eyes ...
Very nice.Did you buy it for the cud
or the double date?..............J/K
I don't believe those are cuds.
To me, it looks more like solder, that has now worn along with the rest of the coin. It would be very rare to find a total of 4 large cuds, on both faces of a coin, in addition to collar cuds on the edge of the coin. Not to mention, that cuds are super rare on mercs.
The clip, however, looks like it may be genuine.
My sentiments as well.
interesting points
.
the edge looks to have some issues. is that solder?
that size cud would have corresponding weakness on reverse around UN * O.
.
Not cuds. For one thing, the area on the other side, opposite the "cud" area, would be weak.
Not to mention that having more than ONE cud on a coin would be rare. Having at least 4, on obverse AND reverse, seems highly unlikely!
My thoughts exactly
old jewelry mounts
there should not be anything outside of the reeded edge
Solder.
Silver solder. WWII token.

I agree... Silver solder... coin was likely in a necklace or bracelet... bracelet most probable since small dimes are favored for that type of jewelry. Saw them frequently at booths in summer outdoor shows... Cheers, RickO
a little extra silver is always a good thing.

Have to agree with the solder explanation. But keep showing us the finds!
I'm on "Team Solder."
