2013 white mountain quarter possible error

Hello all, recently I was looking through a jar of change and came across a 2013 white mountain quarter that has absolutely no copper around the edge. We think it may be a mistake where the copper is missing. My brother and I have done a lot of research and haven't found much. We did find that if it were missing the copper the difference in weight is a mere 7% so the scale we have doesn't show a difference. Even brand new quarters straight from the mint have two colors on the edge. For some reason this on does not. Let me know if these pictures aren't enough.

Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    I'm sorry to say it's plated as a novelty item;
    not an error coin of any type.

    These plated quarters weigh either the same
    as a normal State/Park quarter, or sometimes + .1 gram

    They were sold on TV shows in in newspaper ads for
    the past 15+-years, and you'd be surprised how many
    of them end up on circulation, and then confuse coin
    collectors and coin searchers.

  • We can't find any quarters that are played for "novelty" like you speak of. The only silver quarters sold as novelty are 5oz of silver and much larger in size. Can you find me a link of where these novelty quarters are being sold? @FredWeinberg

    @Stewmaster...... Welcome aboard.....The term Fred used is 'plated'.... that is a process where a silver coating is applied through an electronic bath and it lightly coats all surfaces.... Very common and is done with both gold and silver...

    This is a link to a 7-layer, platinum-plated example sold online: HERE

    These types of coins are generally sold to unknowledgeable collectors and grandmas.
