Remember that one time when

mt_mslamt_msla Posts: 815 ✭✭✭✭

I was at the LCS and I'd requested the price of a few proof sets from the late 50's and early 60's. The help started quoting me prices for the double mint sets of those years. And after 3 or 4 I had to say, "These are proof sets, not mint sets." And he had to ask another employee for verification.

True story.

Remember when collecting coins was fun and not a competition?

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

Someone on your paper route paid you with some funny looking money and you just had to save it?

My wife and I were out having drinks before dinner and she started to tell a story. "I'll never forget that time... that time that uh...." Well apparently she forgot. We had a good laugh. True story.

Member as a kid walking to the store and not have to worry about strangers? Member the dogs that would come out barking and growling? Member only paying 10 cents for a candy bar or ice cream and 25 cents for a bottle of pop? I member that.

Ice cream and candy were a nickel.... dang I am getting old... Yep, in the summer, played outside all day... hiked to the mountains, explored caves (still do)... could carry a rifle or shotgun right through the village and no one said a word.... Cheers, RickO

Guns could be carried in a gun rack in the back of a pickup and nobody thought you were nuts and didn't try to steal them.
