I guess it's safe to say my submission won't be delivered today (USPS)

I've seen all of the horror stories of USPS shipping "efficiencies," but this is the first time it has happened to me. I thought I'd check my tracking this morning to see if my package made it to town today, it's safe to say they did not...my coins are in New Jersey...I'm in Iowa.
I'm not at all concerned...just amused.

I knew I should've made that left turn in albuquerque!

I have a registered package on its way to me in the West from the East coast. It's visited three different POs in New York City and still hasn't left town. It was mailed 10 days ago......
Funny...in a "funny, not funny" sort of way.
I know it doesn't make sense but it is logical from a financial standpoint. after what Congress did to the USPS a little over 10 years ago I cannot really complain about anything mail related, though if I did it would be to our Reps in DC.
as to the "financial" point, it isn't just the USPS and it didn't just start. when I was in the Navy and trying to fly from Cleveland to Seattle they wanted to route me through Atlanta!!! I paid extra for the non-stop. recently my boss has encountered the same problem, wanting to fly from Cleveland to Nashville and getting routed through Atlanta.
it's all about money and efficiency, hardly ever about logic. I have endeavored to just accept it.
about 7-8 years ago I mailed a small submission to ANACS. after about a month it was showing up as still being in the Cleveland Terminal. I even contacted ANACS and got no solution so I filed the paperwork with my local PO. suddenly the package arrived --- it had made the transit both ways, been graded and entered into the system, come back to me and no one knew where it was at!!!
WOW...........................
guess they opened that new offramp on the New Jersey Turnpike that leads directly to Iowa?
That's just Delta. The old joke: If you die in the South, it doesn't matter if you are going up or down, you change planes in Atlanta.

Perhaps all of the registered mail from those 3 post offices was combined into one shipment at the last stop.
It looks like whoever sorted it threw it into the wrong bin.
They fixed their screw-up in a hurry...it was at my house in Iowa by 10:30 this morning.
I asked this afternoon at my local PO, and the gent said that they get lots of re-routed mail.
Delta.......
Deliver Every Living Thing to Atlanta
When it comes to flying, Atlanta is THE major hub... then Chicago... mail is different... and having watched hundreds of packages being mailed to me, from all over the U.S., I have yet to find a distinctive pattern... Cheers, RickO
I send everything in small priority box, blue label insured, and have never had a problem.
