Why did my post count go down?

Not that I have that many, but I know I had 555 the other day and when just happened to look, it's now 541.

You weren't typing in reverse were you? ;)

I think that if there is a thread or threads that have been deleted by the mods then your post count can shrink.

How often do you hit the [BACKSPACE] key?

I asked about lost post count when the forum software was changed. Was told by PCGS rep that when threads weren't migrated, those posts were "lost".
Also, as noted above, when you post in threads that get deleted/removed, the posts in there are gone as well. Completely different than the previous software. In the previous software, threads that were going to get deleted often had people post in there with "+1 before the delete" in a "bump up your post count" move.

Now, when threads are removed, any related posts and post counts are removed as well.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I have seen that happen while I was posting..... hit the post button, it posts, and then right before my eyes, it regresses... Just figured it was a software glitch... but the deleted thread explanation makes sense... Cheers, RickO

    This seems most logical.

The irony is that I always prided myself in not having any posts in threads that were deleted. I could tell from the opening post that they'd turn bad and desist.

Then I lost thousands and thousands and thousands of posts in the "upgrade" and had many of my surviving posts mangled by the new software.

In the old days I'd have never even entered a post like this but I wrote far worse.

On my current trajectory I should hit zero posts by late next year.

I'll bet my post count goes down again for posting +1

    In other words you lose two posts for;

Because if you take the square root of 555 which is 23.558 and you add the three digits 5+4+1 = 10 and you subtract 10 from 23.558 you get 13.558. You round 13.558 up to 14. Now take 555 and subtract 14 and you get 541. Simple :D

I lost umpteen bazillion posts when they did the #$°»<€ upgrade. It's o.k. They were all bad. They deserved to die.

The major quantity lost posts when the system changed was mainly due to the posts made in the old Open Forum... they did not move over. That information was initially provided by the admin. Cheers, RickO

The first two of my posts above showed a drop of one between them. Yes they actually showed different numbers and the second was lower.

I could have had the 13,000 posts I lost on the open forum but I doubt it was more ~8,000. But no matter how many it was there's a lot more going on. I've been trying to determine if they "cleansed" some of the old threads.

@cladking.... It could be... I lost about 3000 posts when it switched over... and I have seen the count drop just after I posted a message and was rereading it... I think that is when a thread gets deleted. Cheers, RickO
