An optical illusion for me at the base of the neck.
It looks like the toning was folded over like a sheet of paper.
Took me a moment to understand what I was seeing.
I quite like it.

I really like the reverse.....

I see the "folded paper" too. Very cool optical illusion.
I kinda like it. Not his price so much!
Cool piece.

That's exactly what caught my eye too. Pretty cool alright. Common date but cool color for sure. That paper fold toning is awesome.
Color is okay and price is in the ballpark. I'm not a fan of the scuffs on the cheek.
I've bid double the ask on this for a 1881-S PCGS MS-62 and lost.
I was also considering this one which sold recently with nice color:
Ditto, nice die cracking it looks like on the reverse going around the edge.
Here's one where three coins laid on it.

Hourglass? reminds me more of a thong.

Wow. A TRIPLE crescent. That thing is awesome!
Give it to Ricko, he can fix that.
@Zoins:
Fingerprinted reverse, funky tone obverse...DIP THAT SUCKER!
Just my eversohumble opinion.
Cheers

@AMRC.....Yep.... I could... but I do not doctor coins... All my experiments and studies were on my coins.. .which have never left my possession..... Cheers, RickO
i dont care for the price on it. otherwise a nice coin.
I agree that the price is high but it is a nice coin with a toning pattern that isn't too common. The pricing is based on the $817 plus shipping realized in the auction from greattoning that @Zoins detailed in a post above.
Bagged toned Morgan with two other Morgans on top of it.
Way overpriced for me.
