Got this in some change yesterday

I received this and have some questions. Is this an error coin? The 1 on the year is barely showing and it's N in New is very light. Was this due to circulation of the coin? Its also struck deep on one side and not on the other. If this is an error coin what's the value on something like this?

Maybe a struck threw grease error.

Thanks for the info everyone and I've been checking everything I get but my wife found this one she said it just didn't look right to her

I agree with 'grease filled die'....Coins such as this, while not carrying a monetary premium, are always of value as educational samples.... teaching aides .... Cheers, RickO
