1925 Peace Dollar
I ran across this, was wanting your input.
Looking at the 5.
Is this machine doubling , double die or recut numeral?
There is a cool die crack across the neck too.
Opinions...

Thanks Mike

Sure "looks" like doubling on the 5 to me. Nice find.
I see doubling on the "2", "5" and a little on the front of the neck. Mechanical, real or otherwise I do not know.
Looks to be some doubling on the 5 and parts of the 2. Another image of it, (maybe fiddle with the lighting), may help get some more informed opinions.
I also see doubling on the 2 and the 5
HAPPY COLLECTING
You may want to change the title of your thread to say something like: "1925 Peace - Die deterioration doubling or ??"
That way you'll get the right kind of folks to view the thread...
Interesting but I don't see any major 'double die' JMO "

Bad transactions with : nobody to date
Die cracks across the neck are pretty much super common. The doubling looks to be machine to my eyes.
Great pic,
bob:)
Looks like DDO to me.
I'd guess machine doubling.
I think it's an artifact of the lighting.
Your question made me go review an article on machine doubling that I think explains and illustrates it very well.

Appears to be machine doubling.... lighting can be tricky on these minor issues...Cheers, RickO
Ok, thanks all.
The link to the error variety was good, lots of pics
Thanks Mike
Soooo I am off to my safe to see if mine might be the same. I will confirm if that is the case.
