This is significant both if you are a buyer seller, or just a wanna-be like me.
Stacks:
The eponymous silver dollar masterpieces of engraver Christian Gobrecht occupy a revered realm of US Numismatics. Struck both for circulation and throughout the 19th century to the delight of contemporary collectors, this series offers a coalescence of aesthetic beauty and absolute scarcity that goes unrivaled in the hearts of many. The appearance of even one specimen is typically reason for excitement, but the Blue Moon Collection offered in our March 2017 Baltimore Auction will feature no less than nine incredible Choice and Gem Proof examples. This assemblage includes everything from high grade Original strikings to extreme rarities like examples of the Judd-65, Judd-88, and Judd-108 varieties. For a comprehensive list of Judd varieties and grades, please contact our offices today.

I will take a look at it out of sheer curiosity...but I will probably hate myself later on thinking about what I could "hock" to acquire one these out of reach classics!

Well, I don't have a choice or gem example, but I do have problem-free, original PR10 and that is good enough for me.

That's why I've always referred to them as "Go Broke" Dollars...
I'd like to own one but perhaps the other 6 will be more interesting.
Very nice. This auction should be getting a lot of big money eyes on it!
I remember TDN had some really nice ones. I guess Simpson has them now?

That 1836 is sweet. Wow.

All of them are very rare and special. To see this many up for sale, means -- um. The coins are competing with each other for buyers?
I always wanted one of these, but never wanted to pony up the funds to buy one, but bought an extensive collection when a customer died year or so back (nov 2015). He had bought an 1836 original strike coin turn in PCGS 58. Not original in quality, but decent. He paid 19k for it a couple years ago. Its not a coin I would have bought myself as I like truly nice original eye-appealing coins. But anyway, kept it as It was acquired at a better price when figuring the estate. Fast forward to mid last year, needed to raise about 40k to cover some major medical expense's for my kidney op, so this was one I let go. Got 16k for it from a national dealer. After I sold it, I saw it trade hands three times all thru national dealers sites I follow (with a 18-19.5k) price tag each time. Ended up going into a heritage sale when it sold at 12,750 plus juice. (somebody along the line lost on that one)
Nice coins... should be interesting to see the auction results... Cheers, RickO
