It's a high priced pile o' crap, but he's sold 25. Anybody who knows coins wouldn't buy it, but maybe it gets people interested in collecting?

You present a good question. He is selling about $13.00 worth of assorted coins for just under $19.00 with free shipping. I voted that it could help bring new collectors into the hobby. It is certainly not the worst ripoff on e-Bay,..

Five extra bucks ain't gonna make or break anyone.

I think it helps by creating interest and drawing people in. JMHO.

Not much value here, but it's like a small window into old coinage, that most people don't ever see or even knew existed. Like a lil type set. I'm in the might bring in new collectors camp.

A lot of collectors paid their early tuition bills to Littleton. This actually appears to be a better deal than that. I really don't have a problem with it.

I wouldn't call those junk coins. Those are the types of coins I had when I started as a kid and I loved em just as much as the higher priced "junk" I collect today.

I don't think it is that bad. Gives someone a taste of old coins and since they chose to spend $20 for that, maybe it will grow in a few of them. And the seller isn't netting more than $5. That's not a rip.

I join in the majority here. Could bring a few into the hobby fold. The dealer is not netting a great profit considering shipping/time to pack, ship etc. And coins may be shown to others unfamiliar with the type coins. I think even if shown to a dealer/collector they would agree it was not a bad deal. Maybe even a minor error on a coin may slip through the (die) cracks.

Those are junk by some people's definition, but treasures in some collections - New collectors or YN's love coins like that.... and truth be told, most of us - maybe ALL of us, started with such coins. I keep seeing threads about getting new collectors into the hobby, growing the hobby (though I believe that is just from the selling side of the hobby).... well, this is something that will do just that... Cheers, RickO

They are getting a good deal, If I saw that on television I would expect something closer to $49.99.

This is a perfectly reasonable lot with no hidden secrets. It is the 'unsearched' roll scams, or selling heavily cleaned raw coins, that damage numismatics and entrap new potential collectors.

Nothing dishonest and actually not outrageously priced.
