Early Dollars
Thanks to ALL who responded to my questions. I plan to get Bower's book on the coins. I have decided to collect VF 25- EF 40 coins. I will pay more, wait longer but feel I will be happier with this group of early dollars. I watch Heritage and it seems the eighteenth century dollars that are graded w/o comment i.e. scratched are increasingly rare and I doubt will get any cheaper. I collect $20 Type One O mints in AU and this is a test in patience as they are not cheap and good pieces seldom come along. A vast majority of the AU coins are dipped at least once and several graded as AU 50 to 53. The 54 and 56 Os are for the people that pay more in taxes than I make so they are not on the list. It is slow going and early dollars are more fun and the acquisition rate will be a bit higher. I have decided not to acquire duplicate dates of coins I would not be happy with if I did not find a better one later on. Thank you all for your time and help. It is noted and appreciated. When I figure out how to upload pictures I will post my best DE and a couple of early dollars.
