Here are close ups of the obverse of the silver dollars.

When I removed the back of frame. I found this. Look at the toning. What do you guys think?

I was hoping for a "S" on the reverse of the Morgan...but the toning is pretty nice!

That's very, very cool. Oftentimes these framed sets or collections contain polished coins and the latent sulfur tones them up pretty strongly, but not in this case. Nice!

Here was the add. It's 1970's vintage.

I have a couple of clocks made at banks from that era that were placed in wooden slots. The Morgans toned up nicely, but unfortunately the dimes and quarters in the group, became pretty dark with time and the wood laquer.

Flip those babies over! The reverses are the sweet side for sure. I was hoping for an 84-s too, or at least a CC!

I love the reverse on the Peace. I wonder what the TPGs would think.

This is 100% original based on the purchasers story which I believe. I think I will send it in.

I understand that it is 100% original, just not 'typically seen' in Peace dollars - especially the green shades. As an aside, I just went to eBay and rolled the dice for $166, hoping to get as lucky as you.

Mine was a $100 gamble, pretty nice if you ask me

Very nice. Usually the coins in these types of displays are polished to "brighten them up." The peace dollar is awesome!

I want to like that Peace Dollar, I really do. The colors are just so unusual. Very interested in seeing what the TPG things about it.

And yes, anything silver can tone.

FTB your probably right but the coin wasn't messed with and toned on it's own over the past 44 years in that holder and should receive a numerical grade as the toning is natural. I am going to submit soon so we'll see.

Awesome! If those coins would have been put in there opposite, you would have the coolest obverse Peace dollar toning of all time!

Notice I said market acceptable. Not questioning the naturalness of the toning, I bought a set of War nickels in a similar holder and well, a few are graded now.

But there is a difference between market acceptable and not market acceptable, and I do not believe the Peace will be considered market acceptable, and thus, it will not receive a numerical grade from any reputable TPG.

    Just my two cents.

Grade in from PCGS - MS 65

    That's a great result.

I also recently bought one of these same Obsolete dollar Type Sets. I got this out of it:

You lucky dog! Send it all into pcgs so they can prove the back toning is real. Grade it with a retro insert with the back up front and win win!

Missed this the first time around. Might be cool in one of those double holders, reverse up.
