The Conclusion to My Teletrade Story

In a recent reply to a thread on Teletrade, I related how, in a sale about 10 years ago, the Teletrade site developed a glitch after the auction had commenced one Sunday, which prevented bidders who were not already logged in from entering bids the rest of the day. However, for those fortunate enough like me, who were already signed in, their existing bids were honored and even additional bidding from them was allowed. In the end, I wound up winning 8 gem toned Morgans for pennies (okay, dimes) on the dollar.
Until now, it was not really possible to display these coins on this site because the quality of the Teletrade pictures was so poor. But, thanks to the skill and effort of one of this site's most esteemed numismatists, Aurora Borealis, the original beauty of these coins can be displayed. So, sometimes fantasies can come true!
Which one do you like best? Worst?

I like the tire tread on the 88. But the 85 is also nice. Send to me when you are done with them.
They are all beauties, but I think I like the 84 with the textile toning the best.

Can't help but feel bad for the consignor!
I don't see how Teletrade could hold the consignors to the sale. It should have stepped up to the plate and made things right even if it meant paying some of its own money for the glitch.
All beauties---the two 84s are my first pick.

I had also heard that at one of their big auctions Greg Manning arbitrarily knocked out all the reserves on an auction, permitted by the signed contract, and many items went cheap.
Nice score. I prefer the 1885 (5th coin)
Nice. I think you tipped your hand by placing the nicest first and worst last.
84#1
with 84#2 being interesting
and the 87 appealing to my offbeat side
That sounds like an invitation for a lawsuit to me if true.
Obviously I'm quite happy with all of them since I've kept them in my collection for 10 years or more. Northcoin's asute comment about the ordering has some merit, at least insofar as the "worst" is concerned, although it's technical quality is very high. The 1886 and 1884-o (fourth coin) have very unusual and attractive colors, patterns and luster, and to me probably stand out somewhat in this crowd. The 1887 also has very pretty colors and is definitely offbeat as Cameonut said, but unlike the others probably would not receive the CAC sticker. The remaining coins are attractive classic bag rainbows in gem condition, highly desirable but more frequently found than the 1886 and fourth 1884-o with the color combinations shown here. So, I would probably favor those two over the others, with my top vote going to the 1884-o, the same as several other respondent's choices.
Thanks, guys, for your observations.
Beautiful Morgans Gemtone!
Did AuroraBorealis make you any offers you could not refuse?
Some of these would fit in his collection nicely.... Cheers, RickO
Not to take away from these beautiful coins and perhaps the unsatisfactory pictures had something to do with fewer bids but................ while you did nothing wrong, if you only paid "dimes on the dollar" the consignor got shafted. I'm curious why Teletrade didn't void the auction? By your own admission it didn't go off as promised.
DollarAfter Dollar. I agree with everything you said, but what was I going to do -- offer to return the coins? Indeed, there were other situations with Teletrade where I did not fare as well, and complained to them about it. Although they could have fixed the situation, they chose not to. That is not to suggest that Teletrade was not very useful to the hobby, just that sometimes their mistakes strikes both ways.
I agree completely that you as the interested and winning bidder did nothing wrong. I am a little shocked that Teletrade failed to resell the coins (assuming) they new of the technical glitch. It would have been easier for them to explain to you that they needed to do the right thing than to take the easy way out and stiff the consignor.
It's every consignors nightmare to assign coins to an auction house then see something go terribly wrong.
I like them all.
Seems as if you were in the right cyberspace at the right time.
I too feel for the consigner, but you did nothing wrong and should be able to enjoy these beauties w/o guilt.
Very rarely the coin gods giveth.
You got numismatically tapped on the shoulder by the coin god.
Better than being tapped somewhere else....
I like coins #4 and #6. #1 with all that gray color doesn't do it for me.
