I don't know if I qualify as a VAM guy "yet," but it sure looks like a VAM 1F to me - great find! Here is the link to Vam world on this Peace dollar.

Just received grades from PCGS on this one. Came back PCGS AU53 Vam 1F Field break.
Any thoughts on what this s worth in todays market?

also received grade for 1923 Peace Dollar Vam 1-D Whisker Cheek. Graded Genuine unc. details (92-Cleaned)

They definitely are not selling for the premiums they were some years ago. Best thing is to check ended auction results on places like ebay or great collections.
