Just ran across this tribute to the 1902 HK-296 Wells Fargo & Co Semicentennial on the bay.

I thought the obverse was an interesting tribute and then did a double take on the reverse.

Anyone know anything about this?

    It's a corn lizard.
    :p

Probably a Native American symbol (of a corn lizard)

One Troy Ounce of Silver with an odd combination of dies ... where is the melt bucket?

    All glory is fleeting.

That is a squash kachina..... has to do with agriculture and healing.... I lived in Arizona for eight years and learned a fair amount (by no means expert) about kachina's from my native American employees. Cheers, RickO

Denver Westex Exposition was a coin show run by "Chester West" (not his real name, I don't think).
The date on that round (1987) was about the last time the show was held, I think.
Definitely a strange pairing of dies.

I've seen these sell for a premium over "melt". That one looks to be in fairly nice condition. I wouldn't scrap it.
