This is what I get for buying modern directly from the mint.............

Walking Liberty in gold down to $815 at the US Mint website. Yes, still available. Yes, have "lost" over $50 on this coin in less than 1 month. No plans to sell so technically it's not a loss.

If you never sell it, you never lose any money
Could soon be down to $775.....
Just kidding,.... Remember... gold was almost $2000 and ounce not long ago.... and world economics are very dicey right now.... so... hang in there...Cheers, RickO
My father had same dilemma. Really wanted the half, but he was afraid to wait for the price adjustment.
Told him him to relax, but he's impatient...(like me!)

You could have bought it on the after market and lost even more.

Ha! Good old Enron. I can't see gold going to zero anytime in the near future despite my best efforts to make some out of lawn clippings and spring water. Any day now though, any day now.

It is not a realized loss. ElKevvo said the rest quite well.
Ebay NGC 69 with box and COA and Free Shipping : $811
Well, just think: you could have bought the 2008 proof 1/2-ounce plat at $2000+ like many of us here did! Don't sweat the small stuff. It's a beautiful coin and you will be glad you have it many years from now, even if you paid a tad more for it.
The more I look at this - and the market.... I do believe there may be an opportunity ahead to pick up one at a much more attractive price.... I shall bide my time. Of course, as with most of my predictions... I will wait a week too late and prices will skyrocket....
Cheers, RickO
Ricko, please post a thread 2 WEEKS before you decide to buy, so we may take advantage of your "market timing".
Cheerios.
Yeah, but you got to hang two qualifiers on that
1.Excessive mintage due to demand now.
2. five years ago the mint took a pounding because they did not mint enough
US Mint should produce to the lesser and always have demand for its product, overproducing is a waste of money.
