Take a look how BAD it can get. Yeah the seller is a "Coin Dealer". Warning, have puke bag handy ..... http://m.ebay.com/itm/1868-Indian-Princess-1-Dollar-Gold-Coin-Type-3-Large-Head-4563-/192057760284?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150519202348%26meid%3D3c21e8d8ffb94f52872ad0198c57c352%26pid%3D100408%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D201754743106&_trksid=p2056116.c100408.m2460

1868 is THE year gold dollar to be especially careful with!
I constantly warn people on the blogs, "Do not buy raw gold dollars!!!!"
Yes this thing is pretty bad, and for once it was shown with decent photos, BUT these coins are very small, and some people just can't take a really good look at them.
And no, this is not the worst counterfeit gold dollar I have seen. Many years ago the treasurer of a club to which I belonged was selling cast fake gold dollars to the club president. Those pieces had artwork that resembled the fake California gold fractional pieces that Woolworths sold in the 1960s. That didn't stop the treasurer from pricing them at $75 each, which was the going retail price for Choice to Gem Uncirculated common date examples.
It really IRKS me that this would come from a "Dealer". C'mon, what frikking dealer would BUY a gold dollar like this?????
Hey but it's in a slab must be real right?
HAPPY COLLECTING
Maybe he doesn't know any better. When former "Coin World" editor, Beth Deisher, offered some Chinese counterfeits to some of the dealers at the bourse at a Winter FUN show, she got some offers. Given that many of these guys are on the national show circuit, that is shocking.
Where are the images? Some of us at work (shhh, don't tell my supervisor) can not pull up ebay listings. Besides if the listing gets enough attention it will get pulled and others who tune-in later today/tonight/tomorrow, will not be able to see the "coin" in question.

If he "dosent know any better" he sure is one BAD dealer. (Period)
I'm sorry, but anybody who would buy that coin as genuine deserves to lose their money as they have no business buying such items without any numismatic knowledge at all.

I added this to my "rogue's gallery" of fakes.

Here is a real one to compare!
Ebayer that deals in coins, not the same thing. If I call myself "dabrainsurgeon" on ebay am I a doctor?
Listing also violates providing a grade in the pic. Allowed to do so only if one of the ebay approved slabbers.
