    I can tell you what you no doubt already know! (Because, there wouldn't be much reason to ask, otherwise).

    It's a Type 1, 1916-1917. :)

    As for the important question, I'm not sure if there is enough "there" to pick between the two....but this group never ceases to amaze me, so I'll watch with interest....

    I'd bet the lower left drapery folds would give a clue as to which one. There are numerous old "cherry pick" threads on this exact same topic.

    I do not know. I bought it as a 1917 fwiw. It is a PO-01 candidate but I'm not going to submit it if it is not identifiable. I thought I'd ask the smart peeps here for an opinion.

    Yep,The bottom of the left drapery is where to look. Just compare the 16 and 17,in a better grade and you'll spot the difference.. :)

    Thanks Guys! I never thought it was a 16 but wondered if it could be verified as a 17.

    Size of 'rivets' on shield also say 1917 - but your lowball is too far gone to tell if there used to be a mintmark.

    Size and definition of rivets on the shield are clear indicators that it is a 17. The rivets on a 16 are almost indiscernible on a coin with that wear.

    Beads on the shield, two hair curls, etc... 1917 all day long.

    Here is a visual aid from another coin forum (CCF) that I have found to be very helpful;
