Sacramento Assayer Hoard of California Gold

I've not heard about this before. Anyone know the history of the hoard?

Nothing in that says ...WHEN... an "assayer" got some dust from some "prospectors."

Seems like anyone who pans gold could have submitted that....just another meaningless 'hoard' label. Cheers, RickO

That is the impression I am developing Rick. At first I thought it might be similar to the gold dust recovered from the SS Central America.

This hoard does not seem to have any historical significance at all – just some hype packaging.
